Summer Learning Opportunities

Digital Summer - Education Technology
=====================
Teachers around the world are taking advantage of their summer 'break' by expanding their professional learning network.  In addition to their focus on literacy, and numeracy, many teachers are focusing on educational technology this summer.

Yes teachers take some well deserved holiday time, but most are engaged in professional learning throughout the summer.  In our Board office today, a group of teachers shared their professional learning on topics including:  Using Audacity in the classroom, resources for Junior teachers, BitStrips ,  SmartBoards, Google Docs, and more.

Our staff are participating in a variety of webinars throughout the summer including Simple K12, Discovery Education Summer Programs, and many webinars from partners including:  BlackBoard, and Smart Technologies.  In addition to their reading, participating in conferences, attending workshops, and taking courses, many teachers are actively participating in professional dialogue on twitter.

Our staff are also participating in various 21st Century Learning/Teacher groups such as Get IdeasEdWeb, Classroom 2.0, The Future of Education ,  and learning from the Partnership for 21st Century Skills.

So to all educators, thank you for using your time away from school to prepare for the challenges of the iGeneration in the 2011-2012 academic year and beyond.
